“Food fight!” is a shout we've all heard in the lunchroom (maybe we've even joined in). But here those two words take on a different meaning, for this fight is against hunger. Here we won't waste food by flinging it, though we'll certainly have as much fun. We won't waste any words, either. In this “Food Fight,” thirty-three of America's best contemporary children's poets have contributed new poems to aid Share Our Strength's efforts to eliminate hunger and its root causes.

Humorous, reminiscent, celebratory, thought-provoking - each poem included here cherishes the essential gift of food in every aspect of our lives.
